Being 6’5″, standing on the footpads of the 2014 BMW R1200GS Adventure and trying to comfortably reach the handle-bars is a challenge. Having the ROX 1.5 inch risers helps a tall rider having a better control of the bike while riding standing-up.
Before buying the ROX risers I tried risers that were a little taller, but the cables on the 2014 GS Adv were stretching too far when the handlebars are fully turned to either side. After a couple of trial-and-error, I stumbled upon the ROX risers and they were a perfect fit for the new water cooled GS Adventure.
They are made out of a solid aluminum block and once installed, look like they are an original part of the bike. Installation is a breeze, unscrewing the 4 existing bolts that hold the handlebars in place, placing the bottom part of the risers where the handlebars used to fit, placing the riser top, and using the provided 4 long bolts to tight it all in place.
A thing to notice is that the risers bring the handlebars up, but also toward the rider, which means that you may need/want to role the bars forward toward the screen. In which case, you have to make sure that you have enough clearance to fully turn the handlebars to both sides.
